Learn how to become a virtual assistant2
Lately, you may have been deliberating on how to learn how to become a virtual assistant or not. Not because of lack of work but because of lack of ethics, customer service and personal attention that other VA's are displaying. I'm totally appalled and in shock. You can achieve your goals if you learn how to become a virtual assistant, and do it well.
To learn how to become a virtual assistant takes a lot of humility, as you may be taking orders from someone you don’t find personally appealling. I do find it fulfilling to know that I am helping someone through the course of their day. To them, I say thank you for overcoming the challenges that bad virtual assistants are causing us. Half of the battle is to learn how to become a virtual assistant, once you got it down you got it.
Just this week I have seen numerous people complaining about their virtual assistants. One person hired a VA and fired her within 4 days. Another person is not getting the personal attention and the customer service that they should be getting from their VA and he is so fed up with it that he is willing to give up on virtual assistants all together. Push through the first trials and you will learn how to become a virtual assistant.

As with many professions, a few bad apples ruin the entire bushel? Maybe a professional certification would help VA’s get organized and establish a minimal education for our profession. Regardless of any requirement, ethics and standards cannot be instituted with any practicality and have to practiced on a 1 by 1 basis. It really must be established on your own and must be important to the VA to have impact on your business. I hope you agree that earning a living is part of an ethic of working hard and doing what you are contracted to do. The Gold Rule is another good idea when you learn how to become a virtual assistant.

One of the reasons that I think so many people learn how to become a virtual assistants is because it has been advertised that all you need to be a good virtual assistant is a computer, internet connection, printer, and telephone. Amazingly enough I just saw a blog post today that said "Earn Big Bucks (right now) by becoming a virtual assistant. You have to have more than equipment to do any job and being a VA is no different. No matter what happens at the end of the day learn how to become a virtual assistant that does a good job.
Your success as a VA isn’t as simply as hanging a tile either. Try putting yourself in the shoes of the person who hired you and executing the job to even a higher standard than that. If they desperately need your help but can't afford the $40 per hour that you charge, then why not work out a plan so you can give them the help they need without breaking their bank. Maybe when they say I need help with this, and this, and this but I can only afford to pay you this, don't kick them to the curb. Work with a cash poor client by setting up a list of their most important jobs and offer a price for those initially. If you learn how to become a virtual assistant who does a good job, finding business will not be a problem.
